Professional speaking
The gentle art of public speaking is close to our heart at the Gaia Coach Institute. Our first course was Finding Your Voice, learning how to put your truth out into the world. Institute founder Stephen Powell, a member of the Professional Speakers Association (PSA), is available to talk to your organisation on leadership or personal development. His style has been described as personal, poignant and funny.
He was one of the guest speakers at a summit of young global leaders in London in November 2006. Discussions were on the theme of The Next Generation of Global Partnerships.
His keynote "A Leadership Feast” plucks some vivid tales from his life and from history to look at the great dance in leadership between being definite and being flexible. Lawrence Warner, president of the South West chapter of the Professional Speakers Association, said of this talk:
“A very thought-provoking presentation. I do like your ‘Leadership Feast’ and particularly was struck by the need for direction but also the need to recognise when it is appropriate to change; your story was very telling.”
"Living Adventurously", an account of three of his life adventures, is an invitation to listeners to consider what adventures they have lived and where they are going next.
Another keynote speech, "Report from Planet Earth" written in the run-up to the Iraq war, was a survey of critical issues, including the ecological crisis. This was what Lee Clarke, former president of the South West chapter of the PSA, said after hearing the talk:
"Stephen Powell's powerful message has really made me think. Delivered with passion and humour, he couldn't fail to get his message across. One day your grand children will read about Stephen Powell as we now read about Charles Darwin".
